Burst Mode is an option of the Waveform Generator and Arbitrary Waveform Generator instruments that starts and stops the generation of a signal based on a trigger. It has three behaviors that can be selected:
- Start mode: start generating a signal from a trigger event.
- N cycle mode: output a predefined number of periods for a given signal.
- Gated mode: Output is enabled while ever the trigger is asserted
The trigger source can be one of the following:
- Internal: Automatically generate a trigger based on a timer to get a recurring output pattern (not available for "Start" mode)
- Input: Trigger is set to one of the instrument inputs, either an ADC or another instrument output in Multi-instrument Mode.
- Output: Trigger is set to one of the other output channels of the instrument.
When using an Input or Output, you can set the threshold voltage that corresponds to the trigger being asserted.
