Burst Mode is an option of the Waveform Generator and Arbitrary Waveform Generator instruments that starts and stops the generation of a signal based on a trigger. It has three behaviors that can be selected:
- Start mode: start generating a signal from a trigger event.
- N cycle mode: output a predefined number of periods for a given signal.
- Gated mode: output is enabled while ever the trigger is asserted. (not available in the Arbitrary Waveform Generator)
The trigger source can be one of the following:
- Internal: Automatically generate a trigger based on a timer to get a recurring output pattern (not available for "Start" mode).
- Input: Trigger is set to one of the instrument inputs, either an ADC or another instrument output in Multi-Instrument Mode.
- Output: Trigger is set to one of the other output channels of the instrument. (not available in the Arbitrary Waveform Generator)
- External trigger: Trigger source is set to the signal from the External Trigger port on the rear side of Moku:Lab, Moku:Pro, or Moku:Delta.
- Manual: Manually trigger the waveform by clicking the refresh button.
When using an Input or Output, you can set the threshold voltage that corresponds to the trigger being asserted.
